After seeing notable Portland acts Tigers On Opium and Witch Mountain performing in Los
Angeles, Erik Erath (aka Erik E. Wrath, former guitarist of splatter punk legends Haunted Garage),
moved back to his native soil in 2019. After his return to Oregon, he was quickly befriended by
drummer Matt “Weatherman” Weatherdon at a John 5 concert, and during the 2020 lockdown,
they started jamming and laid down the early foundation of their new Portland based group.
The timely arrival of Vox fulfilled the vision of a female fronted powerhouse such as Mammoth Weed
Wizard Bastard, Black Moth, and the aforementioned Witch Mountain. They quickly formed up the
raw material into their first album’s songs. With the addition of Luke Miller on bass, the lineup was
solidified and Nyxora was born.
Their first performance in the Portland heavy rock scene was in October of 2021 at the Star Theater
supporting Los Angeles Acid Doomers ‘Old Blood’. Nyxora have since continued to play locally and
put themselves on the PDX map as a band to be on the lookout for. In spring of 2023, Nyxora entered
the studio and recorded their self titled debut LP with Rob Wrong at the helm at his own studio.
Demonstrating their range of musical styles and influences. Their fierce heavy sound is dark, evil,
and beautiful all at the same time — Nyxora isn’t easily pigeon holed into one single genre.
