Welcome to our rogue ship!
Let our music take you on a journey across many different genres and many different lands! We ‘ll encounter Cyclops that want to harm us and Sirens that want to seduce us, but we have to stay true to our course. Our goal is to reach home, but first we need to explore…
Explore centuries old musical traditions and legends with a kaleidoscope of different sounds and different music styles. We hope our journey together is long because as the Greek poet Cavafys said, it is the journey and not the final destination that matters most.
O KANENAS means nobody in Greek. It is the name used by the crafty Odysseas to hide his identity from the Cyclop Polyphemus, making him think he was a nobody, while a plan was forming in his mind.
In book 9 of the Odyssey, our protagonist with part of his crew get trapped inside the Cyclop’s cave. The giant defies all rules of hospitality and actually starts eating them. Our hero plays along and even offers the Cyclop some wine. Lacking perspective and feeling invulnerable the single eyed Cyclop
gets drunk and falls asleep. Odysseas blinds his single eye and manages to escape the cave. Polyphemus cries for help, but when asked what happened he replies that Nobody’s hurt him, so his calls are ignored. When our hero reaches his ships he reveals his identity to Polyphemus. This turns out to be a mistake since the Cyclop asks his father Poseidon to take revenge on Odysseas. But that is another story…
