In essence eclectic, Odd Haven navigates the far fringes of indie pop, 80's new wave and post-punk. Based in Brussels, multi-instrumentalist Mikael Olsson leads a cosmopolitan crew whose core is Swedish, Finnish, Belgian, Spanish and French. The band draws inspiration from the depths of Nordic music, reflected in the folk tinged melodies, the male and female voices in dialogue as well as in the sonic textures, featuring subtly interwoven acoustic instruments. With overtones of British and Scandinavian poetry, Odd Haven – a haven of peace and mystery – explores with care and elegance the foggy and grey lands stretching from sorrow to melancholy, with more than a hint of nostalgia. Somewhere beyond space and time, the guitars of Odd Haven bring back with juvenile fervour a paradise lost, criss-crossed by imaginary routes connecting the blast furnace of Oravais to the stone giants of Fårö and bare cliffs of Bohuslän, down to the industrial wastelands of Lancashire and Molenbeek, towards Honfleur, Sevilla and the hanging gardens of Sussex and Thuin.
