ODDMUND JARLE FINNSETH (born 11 February 1957) in Sortland, Norway is a Norwegian bass player, composer and music teacher.
Finnseth completed the programme of study in jazz at Trondheim Conservatory (1986–89) and worked at the same time with the <a href="spotify:artist:6JBRoLhWnKKoGusczR8Qbk" data-name="Asmund Bjørken">Asmund Bjørken</a> Orchestra. Later he recorded albums with the <a href="spotify:artist:4QMGyI5RZJoLl5xWABhBra" data-name="Bjørn Krokfoss Swingoktett">Bjørn Krokfoss Swingoktett</a>’, Asmund Bjørken Sextet, his own Trondheim Bop Service (1989–92) and <a href="spotify:artist:4PVJFr6GpBBY0bqnTi9cl7" data-name="Marit Sandvik">Marit Sandvik</a>’s latin band ‘Bossa Nordpå’. He has gotten to play with the likes of @Randy Johnston, @Carls White and @Joe Coen. and asked to join the legendary @Count Basie Orchestra. Oddmund regularly plays with the british jazzmusician @Alan Barnes.
He has also toured extensively in Norway and abroad. Finnseth is a teacher of music at the upper secondary school level in Norway. In addition, he is an arranger and composer and fronts a number of constellations within various musical genres. He was awarded Northern Norway’s Stubøprisen jazz prize in 2015. The present recording, Dedications (2021), is Finnseth’s first album released under his own name
