Offbeat Smitty

Offbeat Smitty was born to a Jamaican mother and Latvian father in Toronto of Canada. He was raised among his three sisters in the city, two of them also have music projects of their own as singers and have collaborated with him on songs.

He is most known for his dynamic and unique vocal range, and his often emotional and sometimes depressing song subjects. Offbeat Smitty’s signature sound tends to favor elements reminiscent of the 1980s era, but with modern automation and arrangements courtesy of his producer <a href="spotify:artist:4EvzVE6VzG1cXbyBbHd5f0" data-name="TurboVCR">TurboVCR</a>.

His love for music started in R&amp;B, &amp; hip hop, having an appreciation for the way songs can convey emotion and experience in a way that felt bigger than life itself.

Offbeat Smitty has been releasing music since 2021 with “<a href="spotify:track:0tOk5mHTb7ePdYBoQKoAcL" data-name="Nothing ever lasts">Nothing ever lasts</a>” marking his professional debut. Using music as his personal outlet has gracefully connected him with fans who show love for the artist and his songs from all over the world. He has garnered a more local following within Toronto, performing his very own headliner shows at Sneaky Dee’s, Supermarket Bar &amp; Variety, and Drake Underground. He has also performed in Brooklyn, NY at the Brooklyn Art Cave as well as The Meadows and more recently in DC at The Village DC.

Offbeat Smitty is hoping through each release he’ll continue to get closer to the people who “need to hear” his music most.
