Olik is an alternative rock band hailing from Baridhara, Dhaka. The band was formed through the power of social media, more specifically, a Facebook group post where someone was looking for musicians. One thing led to another, more specifically, after a few crappy auditions, the band was formed in October, 2018. The name Olik stems from the inner inhabituations and fantasies we hold and how they are shattered by the curveballs life throws at us at every step of the way. The initial lineup went on to perform at a few universities and radio stations until the then bassist and lead guitarist left the band for personal reasons in quick succession. After a brief hiatus, the band reformed with a new lineup at the end of 2019. SInce then, the band has been part of many successful gigs, from coffee shops and music stores to universities and other venues, spanning across Dhaka and other districts. Their influences include local bands like Nemesis, Indalo, Arbovirus and foreign bands such as Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Nothing but Thieves etc.
The current lineup consists of:
Muhib Faysal Lincon - Vocal
HBA Saum - Guitars
Salman Ahamed - Guitars
Toukir Ahmed - Bass
Arnab Rahman - Drums
Ashik Hasan - Guitars
During the mid of 2020, the band started working on their original compositions. To that extent, Olik released their debut single titled Ghor on Thursday, 8th of July, 2021.
