OMRUM is a new collective quartet from the Copenhagen jazz scene, where music flows freely between composition and improvisation, atmosphere and intensity. Their debut album Bringer of Light, out November 13, 2025 on Hobby Horse Records, captures four distinctive voices on the Nordic jazz scene meeting as equals in a space defined by trust, surrender, and shared vision.

The name “OMRUM” doesn’t officially exist, but it reflects the sense of “space” the group embodies – both the physical space between them and the sonic worlds they create together. There is no front figure and no hierarchy: only the freedom to contribute and respond in the moment.

The quartet features trumpeter Erik Kimestad, trombonist Mads Hyhne, bassist Richard Andersson, and drummer Jakob Høyer – each bringing experience from projects including Kresten Osgood Kvintet, Horse Orchestra, Bugpowder, Maria Faust Sacrum Facere, The Raveonettes, Jakob Bro Trio, and collaborations with Jeff “Tain” Watts, Tony Malaby, and Oskar Gudjonsson.

Recorded live over a winter weekend at Karmacrew Studio on the Danish island of Møn, the music was captured in a single room without headphones, with the crackle of a wood-burning stove subtly preserved on tape. Across ten tracks – six by Kimestad, one by Hyhne, and three collective improvisations – the music embraces risk, intimacy, and texture, shifting from quiet explorations to sudden bursts of virtuosity.
