On The Ropes are a pop-punk band, originally formed in 2012, in York, UK. The band consists of Jonny Gill (vocals), Jamie Paddock (lead guitar), Alex Laine (drums), Craig Hodge (bass guitar) and Kiel Hodgson (rhythm guitar).
On The Ropes quickly found themselves at the centre of their local pop-punk scene, playing regular shows and drawing crowds with their catchy hooks, reflective and relatable lyrics, and on-stage energy.
Debut single "These Days" was released in 2015, and very quickly received hits on YouTube. This was then followed by the release of their first EP “Home”, which was played to a sell-out crowd in their hometown of York. This was followed up with a couple of UK tours, which earned them slots supporting well-known bands including Funeral For A Friend, Patent Pending and Trash Boat.
Over the next year, 3 more singles were released, complete with respective YouTube videos; their new single “Constant Comment”, and Christmas covers of “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Stay Another Day”.
The band continued to play shows around the local area, however with family life and other musical projects taking precedence, On The Ropes disbanded in 2019. However now, in 2023, On The Ropes have reunited, and are ready to record and play shows once more. Older and wiser, they are back to find their own path in the Yorkshire pop-punk scene once again!
