One Less Vulture is the music of Paul Spatola. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he grew up playing piano at age 5 and began writing songs at age 9. He taught himself guitar at age 11 and started playing in bands throughout school. His high school band "Social Butterfly" was successful locally and had some label interest before disbanding in 1996. He ended up reuniting with bassist Joshua Ansley in 2004 to complete the lineup of the band HURT. Paul was the lead guitarist/songwriter/backing vocals and keyboard/pianist for the band from 2004-2011. During that time, HURT was signed to Capitol Records and had a handful of Top 20 singles on the Billboard rock charts. "Ten Ton Brick" was the first song written by Paul for the band and was awarded with "Rock Song of the Year " by Sesac in 2007. He also toured extensively with some of the biggest names in rock music (Alice In Chains, Breaking Benjamin and Korn just to name a few).
After leaving the band in late 2011, he took a break from the music industry, went back to tattooing, and had a son. Then after another musical project didn't materialize, he chose to release music on his own. One Less Vulture is quite a departure from the sound of HURT, still a mostly rock foundation, but incorporating other influences like early r&b and some post-punk vibes. Enjoy!
