Darren Piper, known as Optikz, has transformed his life from a struggle with complex childhood trauma, multiple addictions, and mental, emotional, physical health issues into a beacon of hope through music. Moving from Cairns, Queensland, Australia to Guelph, Ontario, Canada in the early 90s, he began his music career in high school with the rap group RCR and gained attention through solo projects and winning several top 40 radio talent competitions. Despite battling deep-seated mental health issues and substance abuse, Optikz recovery journey through detox, rehab, therapy and being heavily involved in the recovery community at large has inspired his new music direction. Now working at the prestigious Metalworks Studios, his latest work, including the single “Love The Child In Me,” reflects his commitment to using music as a tool for personal transformation and healing, aiming to support and inspire others facing similar challenges.
