Ora Alexander recorded ten songs (only eight of which were ever released) in New York City for Columbia Records between May 1931 and March 1932. The piano player on the tracks is not named (Milton Davage definitely plays on at least "I'm Wild About My Patootie"), so it is possible that Alexander herself played the piano parts, although that remains just a conjecture. The songs themselves are rough and rowdy barrelhouse affairs, with Alexander's sexy and saucy vocals being the defining element. The recording dates place her in New York at least twice within a year, but whether she lived there or elsewhere is not known. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
