Örjan Sandred is a Professor of Composition at the University of Manitoba in Canada. He is a composer of both instrumental and computer music. Many of his pieces are results of his search for new methods of composition. His instrumental works reach from music for Symphony Orchestra to solo instruments. Among his pieces are a series of compositions with live electronics.
During 1999, Sandred worked as a Composer on Research in the Musical Representation Team at IRCAM. 1998-2005 he was teaching electro-acoustic composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. With the financial support from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the Manitoba Research and Innovation Fund, he founded a studio for computer music research and production at the University of Manitoba, Studio FLAT, in 2009. In 2016, he was a DAAD visiting professor at Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany.
