Osborne Jones
We are David Osborne and David-Gwyn Jones.
Our latest release is TWANG!…which is the follow up to our album Ever Closer. TWANG! features players such as Albert Lee, Will McFarlane and Kenny Vaughan.
Osborne Jones are part of the New Traditional Country scene that is growing in LA and elsewhere. In LA this centers on The Grand Ole Echo and Ronnie Mack’s Barn Dance and includes people like Rosie Flores…James Intveld…I See Hawks In LA and Rick Shea from Dave Alvin’s Guilty Men – who produced our previous album Only Now. Rick also plays pedal steel guitar on our new album Ever Closer.
We have also worked with some of the best players in and around the London scene and recorded extensively at leading studio Rodel Sound.
We have many influences…particularly the Masters of Country Music like George Jones, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. We also really like the Gram Parsons school of contemporary Country such as The Flying Burrito Brothers…Sweetheart of the Rodeo period Byrds and Emmylou etc and the tradition they created. We try and get as close to that spirit as we can.
For us it is primarily about the songs – and getting them honed to perfection then having them heard and sung by as many people as possible. We’re very prolific and are continually writing – and have built up a canon of many fine tunes.
We hope you enjoy the songs and music of Osborne Jones
