Otra Vez began when DJ O'Loane and Sean O'Hara met in summer of 2019, both having just moved to NYC to play music. They quickly discovered they had a mutual love of prog rock and outsider music, geeking out on Guided By Voices, King Crimson, and Syd Barrett, among many others. While their styles of playing and writing had a lot of crossover-- with O'Hara writing solo music under the moniker Nadir Bliss, and O'Loane under the moniker Dale Jr.-- both musicians retained their own unique voice and aesthetic which shone through in the music of Otra Vez. To date, they've released one tape called "Vexation" which was recorded on 4 track cassette in a basement in Bushwick and released one week before COVID lockdown. The tape can only be described as being psychedelic outsider music, made by two weird but brilliant guys trying to navigate a minefield of uncertainty and make a name for themselves as musicians in a city new to both of them. Otra Vez is in the process of releasing their second full length record, due out in late 2021.
