In 2010 an ensemble gathered at Ark Studios Brisbane, to commence piecing together Ladies’ Luck, a collection of wild recordings for Brisbane’s own ‘Pearl’ - Jackie Marshall. An ensemble Jackie would later dub The Black Alles Band. On occasion, when musicians band together, it can take time for them to disband. This was certainly true for members of The Black Alles Band. The love affairs forged throughout the making of Ladies Luck’ saw them go on to hit record on the backing of other artists.
One of these was songman Richard Charles Johnston - an integral part of the TBAB himself – an all round good bloke. A left-hander! These subsequent sessions of Richard’s material - or the ‘Hey-Hey it’s Saturday sessions’ - gave birth to Our Ithaca Creek … a large sweet-n-sour pork sized serve of Australiana.
“Yeh okay, cool story … why should I care?”
Well, the record was never released or heard, and here at Electric Possum Records we think that’s really uncool. So to finally make things right in the world and restore balance to the force, we’re presenting the lost recordings.
