Øystein Munz from Oslo, Norway frequently performs on the local folk scene and in singer/songwriter clubs.
In november 2019 he chose the label Voices of Wonder to release his debut album Drivgods, Rekved. A good year later Alt for kjærligheten was released on the same label. Both albums are available on CD.
Acoustic fingerstyle guitar play a sentral role in his music. His songs center on issues like life, death and love, often with a slightly melancoly, but still humourous edge.
On both albums he has employed the talents of multi-instrumentalist and studio-technician Gunnar Kjellsby. On several songs he is also backed by the legendary folk-rock fiddler Øyvind Rauset, as well as the backup singers Anne Cathrine Johansen, Embla Maria O’Cadiz and Yvonne Walderhaug.
The music of Øystein Munz is firmly anchored in a scandinavian tradition where much emphasis is put on the lyrics. However, his ears are also well tuned to the sound of anglo-american folk rock, as well as traditions such as bossa nova, french chanson, and the portuguese fado.
