P-Tah is a Kenyan-born London-based rapper with a keen ear for beats,
ingenious wordplay, and a flair for painting rich imagery with words to create
honest and relatable music.
Born and raised in Nairobi, he grew up listening to Genge, Reggae, Dancehall,
and Lingala. While these genres introduced him to music, he would organically
fall in love with hip-hop.
His music career kicked off in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as a
way of expressing his emotions and sharing his experiences. He also wanted to
offer an alternative to the mainstream music scene, which he felt was lacking in
depth and diversity. Due to his earlier exposure to Kenyan music, he raps mainly
in Kiswahili and Sheng, to connect with his audience and celebrate his culture.
His dynamism sees him exploring other sounds such as Afropop.
He’s worked with some of the finest
MCs in Kenya such as Maovete, Sir Bwoy, Fikrah Teule, and Kitu Sewer.
Some of his songs have received massive airplay in
hip-hop promoting radio shows such as Radio Citizen’s Mambo Mseto, Hot 96’s
The Take Off, and Icon Radio’s The Vault.
His latest project, OMC 3, has 6 guest producers with appearances of
artists from Kenya and Tanzania. P-Tah’s music continues to add a voice to
societal discourses, give hope, and entertain his fans. Apart from working on his
projects. P-Tah is part of Door Knockers Cyphers, a Hip-Hop entity that seeks to
promote raw rap talents in Kenya, Tanzania, the UK, and the US.
