PAINTRAIL is an experimental collaboration between musicians Luca Delle Fave (Seventh Dimension) and Hadid Rehman.
The project began in 2016 when the duo decided to write music together with “an empty palette,” free from rules and limitations. Initially, the idea was to avoid electric guitar entirely, but as the compositions developed the guitars naturally found their way in . Their different writing styles and musical backgrounds complemented each other well, and within a short period three songs were written. The music was then shelved and left unheard for several years.
In 2025, these songs finally resurfaced with the band’s debut album “Nocturnals.” Entirely instrumental and created as a strictly two-man project, all additional instruments were performed or programmed without outside performances, ensuring the vision remained completely self-contained. The album reflects the duo’s shared attraction to odd and unsettling sounds—dominated by acoustic guitars, driven by bass and drums, and layered with eerie atmospheres. Drawing from obscure corners of artists like Opeth, Steven Wilson, and Storm Corrosion, the result is strange, hypnotic, and hardly definable.
The band itself had no name in its early days, as the music was always the main priority and end goal. Only shortly before the release of Nocturnals did the project receive its identity. In a way, the music baptized the band itself: Paintrail.
