Palomino Darling

Katie Swetman and Sam Anselmo formed Palomino Darling in 2014. What began as a couple of singer-songwriter nights together quickly evolved into a multi-instrument exploration and arrangement of Katie’s songs. Sam has been playing music most of his life, forming his first band in 3rd grade. His true love is drums, but he is able to play several instruments at one time. In the band’s live set, Sam plays kick and snare with his feet, while playing lead guitar lines. Matthew Sigur from The Advocate describes their live set as, “Watching the group perform is like seeing Animal from the Muppets playing along with theme song from season one of "True Detective." In short, it's equally mysterious, beautiful and awe-inspiring." Katie had been writing songs for years, but it wasn’t until she started working with Sam that she really found her voice. Wade Landry from The Advocate says, “The title track opens with a captivating guitar riff as Swetman spins tales of “wonder and discovery.” The vocalist explores the highs and lows of her range with ease, giving Florence + The Machine a run for its money.”
The duo evolved their sound through the process of recording their debut album, Anything But Human. The album is rich with lush vocals and organic synths contrasted by cutting guitars and driving beats. The lyrics tell the story of broken hearts, but ultimately of hope and forgiveness.
Katie and Sam write and produce their music from a cozy home studio in Baton Rouge, LA.
