Over the last decade the project of Montreal’s dislocated Brit Tim Crabtree has consistently pleased critics on both sides of the Atlantic. Crabtree's "ethereal" voice (NOW, Toronto) "that never fails to cut through and take hold" (CBC) is tied to a dynamic and off-kilter approach to arrangement. In the studio, Crabtree has worked with the likes of Jeremy Gara (Arcade Fire), Andy Magoffin (Great Lake Swimmers) and Dean Nelson (Beck) and Paper Beat Scissors has shared the stage with Sun Kil Moon, Clogs and My Brightest Diamond (who he collaborated with on a 2013 7" release Tendrils (Live)) and Tanya Tagaq. Paper Beat Scissors has performed across Canada and Europe at festivals including Wilderness (UK), Rolling Stone Weekender (Germany) and Waves (Vienna), drawing a slot on the cover CD of Rolling Stone Germany and recording BBC Radio sessions along the way. 2018 saw the release of a live 8-piece orchestral ensemble album, recorded at Montreal's Sala Rossa with arrangements written by Crabtree. In September 2019 Paper Beat Scissors will release the new album Parallel Line.
