In June of 2021 founding members of Paper Swords—Connor Mccoul [rhythm guitar/ vocals] and Azariah Zurn [drums]—fatefully met at a house party one night out in the country in Casper Wyoming.
A couple of months down the road Jamison Nistler [lead guitar/ vocals] joined the band with a taste for the weird and psychedelic. Around this time Paper Swords was nothing more than a garage band. After a decent break though, Keaton Crilly [bass guitar] hopped along for the ride, and the rest is history.
With no specific genre in mind, Papers Swords dove into practice and making their own music. Taking inspiration from bands such as Nirvana, Tool, Surf Curse, Citizen, as well as many others, they set out to create a unique sound of their own and build themselves into sharpened musicians. All throughout the beginning of 2023 they recorded what will be their first EP, with the single Black and Blue being their first blessing to the ears of Wyoming’s townsfolk as well as the rest of the planet. The Swords, with this release played a small tour throughout Casper and Wyoming wowing many.
Ultimately, this band continues to get the EP finished with mixing and mastering and hopefully becoming as big as Nickleback someday. Paper Swords, being the strapping foursome that they are, strive to fulfill any and all needs of eager fans. They also peddle hackey sacks.
