Parissa Tosif is an Iranian-Australian vocalist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Sydney, Australia. Known as the vocalist and co-writer of the electronic duo Vallis Alps, she has long navigated two worlds: the luminous pulse of modern pop and the spiritual inheritance of her Iranian ancestry
"I got to a point in my life where I realised there was so much I didn't know about myself — about my ancestry and my heritage," she recalls. That question became the foundation for her forthcoming debut solo project — a deeply personal exploration of identity, gathering the threads of ancestry, migration, and motherhood.
"Because of my mum's decision to leave Iran, and the sacrifices she made," Tosif explains, "I'm the first person in my family to have a public voice and to sing in public. I wanted to make something that was a gift to all the women in my lineage."
Her solo work honors "the ordinary in the extraordinary lives of migrants, refugees, and people who leave their motherland," weaving together traditional Iranian instrumentation — daf, tombak, and oud — with Western songwriting and spacious production. Produced by Andrew Grant (Breathe) and featuring Alice Ivy, the project is a meditation on heritage, motherhood, and connecting generations.
