A collaboration between guitarist Paul Arthurs -- best known as Bonehead, the second guitarist in Oasis during the group's '90s heyday -- and songer/writer Alan Wilkes (who performs under the stage name Vinny Peculiar and has previously worked with such iconoclasts as Bill Drummond and Luke Haines), Parlour Flames is a Manchester-based duo that explores the heady territory between traditional guitar rock and wordy, literate pop. Arthurs and Wilkes joined forces in 2012 -- the former handling the music, the latter the words -- and released their first single, "Manchester Rain"/"Something & Nothing," on April 20, 2013 (aka Record Store Day). Not long afterward, the group's self-titled debut was released on Cherry Red Records. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
