Party Pace is a Filipino experimental rock band formed in 2021 by drummer Badjao De Castro (IV of Spades), bassist Eco Del Rio (Chicosci, Jejaview), guitarist John Apura, and Raymund Marasigan (Sandwich, Pedicab) on samplers and synths. Party Pace skims through musical genres like a wave, featuring a spacious mixture of dream pop, hiphop, and post rock that in their own terms falls under an umbrella of "beach music." The name Party Pace takes reference from the group's shared love for cycling, a reflection of their psyche that is equally measured and adventurous.
A self-professed "accidental" band, Party Pace was formed through the four's pre-existing friendship reinforced by recurring hangouts through cycling and jam sessions. A spontaneous performance in an empty swimming pool in La Union cemented the group's status as an official band; while Badjao, Eco, and John would record concurrently, Raymund would serve as the cherry on top, so to speak, with masterful layers of vocal samples inspired by hiphop's production of sampling. The result is an explosion of instrumental textures that come together as a lush soundscape. Every wash of sound adorns the listener's ear as it is being constantly deconstructed and reconstructed throughout the course of each performance.
