Afflicted with poverty at their inception, this band of Harlem, New York-rappers originally practiced in the most un-party-like space of their local graveyard. The trio of DJ Alphonse Constant and rappers Randall Barber and Tedd Lewis were undeterred. In actual fact that piece of hallowed ground has achieved something approaching notoriety since, being used for a Doug E. Fresh video. They formed in Harlem in the late 80s, passing by unobserved until Kool Moe Dee visited their school. Inspired by him, they eventually won themselves a contract through his manager, who organised an audition for Moe Dee’s home label, Jive Records. Moe Dee would also make an appearance on their debut album (‘Just Look At Us’), which was characterised by old school positivity (‘Strivin’’) and locker room humour (‘Steppin’ In Doo Doo’).
