Patrick French

Patrick French is a North Carolina native, multi-instrumentalist, and singer/songwriter based in Asheville, NC. When speaking of the inspiration behind his music he believes that “a good song can bring you to tears, make you smile through pain or give you a full belly laugh.” Effortlessly blending genres from Americana, Bluegrass, and Blues, Patrick is a true American roots artist whose songwriting prowess is equal to his guitar playing.

Patrick was raised in High Point, NC and was steeped in traditional Blues thanks to his Louisiana-born parents. Since the age of 18, he has called the Blue Ridge mountains home. Known for his guitar playing, he has spent the past years supporting artists touring the US, playing major festivals (FloydFest, Merlefest and Americanafest), and recording albums. He is a founding member of Mama & The Ruckus, an intergenerational roots rock band led by power-house vocalist, Melissa Mckinney.

His latest solo release “Feather in the Wind,” features Patrick in a new world, as he explores the back-porch comfort of a traditional string band. Through thoughtful lyricism and a nuanced acoustic performance, Patrick transports the listener to a familiar place where the rush of everyday life passes and the cozy feeling of home is all that is left. To him, home looks like a porch in the mountains of WNC where family and friends are gathered, fireflies light the night, and the music never ends.
