Pattern Pusher: Crafting Emotion-Infused Alternative Rock
The Great Letting Go is the bands debut album, holding themes of grief and loss in a warm embrace. Music from a time where relationships ended and loved ones were lost. Amongst the confusion and pain there is hope, a longing for new beginnings and growth.
Alex says of the album writing process:
“My father always said songs are your diary. I never really treated writing like that until he passed. That year a lot about my life was turned upside down.
This album is a list of diary entries of recent thoughts and feelings, both painful and joyful. They’re an honest and open reflection on an emotional journey. We have poured a lot of time and energy into working on who we are as people, as a band, as friends and everything in between. The sounds you will hear represent the sounds we love and the time we have spent searching for it.
Out of this period of introspection came hope; the idea that life is a brief candle and that we should enjoy every flicker of it and simultaneously, that self-love and wanting your own ‘perfect life story’ is okay! In essence the album is still a song of hope – as a band we are all born optimists. I think we all deserve to be happy and to live the way that we choose. It’s about letting go of the guilt that comes with self-care and getting comfortable with taking the risks we take to get where we want to be.”
