Born in Lima, Paul Hoyle is a singer-songwriter, performer and producer from Peru. Surrounded by music from an early age and touched by the richness of the Afro Peruvian rhythms, he became a young cajon player. He got the opportunity to play next to percussionists like Alex Acuña, Juan Medrano Cotito and Laura Robles, a bass player and percussionist who introduced him to the world of the bass guitar. Soon after that Hoyle became a cajón and bass player for many bands like Big Pollo, Desiré Mandrile, Chicha Morais and more, getting the chance to share stage with Donavon Frankenreiter, Jenny Berggren (Ace of Base) and known Peruvian artists like We the Lion, Susana Baca, Laguna Pai, etc.
It is while being part of several bands that he decides to start his solo project inspired by nature and contemplation. In 2015, he released his first EP, ‘Colours’, inspired by artists like Eddie Vedder, Ben Howard and The Tallest Man On Earth. Later, Hoyle was invited to play in Thailand, Mexico and to a great number of venues, cities and platforms in Peru including the National Opera House.
In 2018, inspired by Susana Baca’s unique AfroPeruvian sound and Indie Folk songwriters he decides to make his debut album called ‘Tiempo Libre’ (Free Time). This album explores the mixtures of Indie folk’s soundscapes with Afro Peruvian rhythms.
Hoyle is currently based in Berlin. He has been invited to play in Munich and Nuremberg and is already growing his audience in Berlin’s artistic scene.
