"Summer" is a debut solo album by former <a href="spotify:artist:6mKtBhRYKslEujxi811mmw" data-name="Value Void">Value Void</a> member Paz Maddio, a musician from Azul, Argentina.
"In the summer of 2020, as the first lockdown tentatively lifted over London, Paz Maddio stayed home and wrote songs.
Recorded in single takes, with her friend and longtime collaborator, Koichi Yamanoha (<a href="spotify:artist:3NPUB3hI9LFMe99ATFwzd3" data-name="Grimm Grimm">Grimm Grimm</a>), these songs rarely touch the two-minute mark. To these spontaneous, whispered chants we lend an ear as Paz chronicles in realtime a summer in London and the strange the social isolation of feeling closed off in a city opening up.
Tightly-packed, winding guitar riffs loop like the melodies of music boxes. Paired with Paz’s frank, quaking vocals, Summer builds the pressure of a city in frantic bloom pressing against the windows of their home in East London.
