Original bluesy, folksy, gritty, grassy, country-fried rock and roll from the mountains, valleys, and dirt of Appalachia.
Peery Crawford Band (PCB) is the latest music project from Roanoke music scene veterans Ray Crawford (Casey and the Moonshine Band, Mountain Frog) and John Peery (Rooftop Cowboys, Kuchi Lebas). The group features original songs penned both separately and together, with influences including Hank Williams, Darrell Scott, Warren Haynes, Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Garcia, and Guy Clark. As a duo, Peery and Crawford invoke dream country and folk pop dreamscapes, making use of acoustic and electric guitars as well as Crawford’s mandolin.
The full band is all of that hooked up to a 10 gigawatt generator, adding Cretin Mouth’s Killer(also Cookin' Misery and formerly The Voodoo Freakshow) on upright and electric basses and Another Roadside Attraction alums Thomas Layman on drums and Michael Brown on piano, keys, and banjo. The full PCB experience ranges from Hank to Hendrix, with stops at Govt Mule, Little Feat, Drive-by Truckers, Widespread Panic, and Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers along the way. Live performances move from a traditional string band (guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin) experience to a full blown rock and roll blues explosion, with a heavy infusion of original material. If nothing else, they promise to dream big and play something real, full of grit, dirt, heart, and just enough rock to make you roll.
