Penny's Pet Dragonfly

Formed in Las Vegas in 1998, Penny's Pet Dragonfly is a melodic alternative rock unit along the lines of <a href="spotify:artist:4Z8W4fKeB5YxbusRsdQVPb">Radiohead</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:40Yq4vzPs9VNUrIBG5Jr2i">Smashing Pumpkins</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:4UuoJfJ9UybJft7a8E6UHX">Better Than Ezra</a>. Two of Dragonfly's four members, lead singer/rhythm guitarist Micah Tamblyn and lead guitarist Eric Koch, are ex-members of an acoustic-oriented duo called Syris, which had been playing the Vegas coffeehouse circuit when it started working with drummer Brad Bianco in 1998 -- Penny's Pet Dragonfly was formed when Tamblyn and <a href="spotify:artist:66KOQ0NXOD0hF7XT2mwwS9">Koch</a> decided to go electric and work with Bianco and bassist Jason Jamiel on a full-time basis. After creating a buzz on the Vegas rock scene, Dragonfly signed with a Bay Area indie called Orange Peal Records and recorded its debut album, In a Frail Daydream, in 1999.
