Fronted by songwriter Matt Grocott, the band came together when Matt sent demos to drummer Luke Hallam, who instantly heard something worth building properly. Bassist Ollie Carnell joined soon after, completing a rhythm section that brought weight, clarity and urgency to the songs.
Their debut single “One Thing” is out now — a sharp, in-your-face introduction built on driving drums, cool bass lines and raw, distorted guitars. It captures the tension of wanting something you can’t quite have, delivered with the kind of honesty that sticks around long after the last chorus.
People Laughing are only just getting started, but momentum is already building. Their first ever live show takes place at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms, opening for The Molotovs, marking the start of a project that’s focused on big songs, real connection, and doing things properly from the ground up.
