Amsterdam-born composer/producer Perquisite started creating beats at age 14. Having played the cello since his early youth, he has always been inspired by all kinds of music, from classical and 60's to Hip-Hop and jazz. In 2001 he released his first EP which featured saxophonist <a href="spotify:artist:1dZtTzcPTFBsbmqNohoKUR" data-name="Benjamin Herman">Benjamin Herman</a>. Three years later he started working with rapper <a href="spotify:artist:0DD1CBUI4ypYSqvKUyjNoO" data-name="Pete Philly">Pete Philly</a> as the hip-hop duo <a href="spotify:artist:4XOAS1Q62GWP67HMX7ASk3" data-name="Pete Philly & Perquisite">Pete Philly & Perquisite</a>. Their successful collaboration yielded three critically acclaimed studio albums and earned them numerous performances around the world.
In 2009, Perquisite started working on his first film score, the music for '<a href="spotify:album:1uTwX1N578kCFIlYyqUfLA" data-name="Carmen Van Het Noorden: De Soundtrack">Carmen Van Het Noorden: De Soundtrack</a>', for which he received a Gouden Kalf (Dutch Oscar). Since then, he has composed the music for several feature films and series. Besides this, he formed a duo with singer <a href="spotify:artist:0IIPgITtEO4JJfipw57KGv" data-name="Kris Berry">Kris Berry</a> and since 2015, he works together with <a href="spotify:artist:3t9HafA5eFHM992s4GZ0Gr" data-name="Jeangu Macrooy">Jeangu Macrooy</a> as his music producer and manager. Since 2022 he also works with upcoming Alternative R&B singer and songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:5jGvXj4Virggz7GjqBTs9h" data-name="Swan">Swan</a>.
In addition, Perquisite runs his own record label Unexpected Records since 2001 and is one of the founders of BAM!, the Dutch songwriters society. At the end of 2023, Pete Philly & Perquisite gave a big reunion concert at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. Their official third studio album <a href="spotify:album:4LUTndEHE6DgiOAiHN5hgQ" data-name="Eon">Eon</a> was released on May 3rd 2024, after which a European Tour took place.
