P.F. Commando were punk. They'd made that clear enough with their 1978 debut, a magnificent little three-song EP of precisely the type the captures the feel of the era beautifully and fuels the obsessions of record collectors, punks and anyone else in thrall to the eternal allure of snot-nosed teenaged barbs barked over over bussing guitars and tin can drums at double time. "Svenne Pop" had certainly made their mark, but this particular crew of nordic miscreants had more ambition than that. They intended to release Sweden's first "real" punk footlong - Sweden's "Ramones" or "Damned Damned Damned" - and in 1979, they followed through on that promise. - Simon Harvey / Ugly Pop

Commando, whose name was said to be short for Punk Force Commando, was one of the most important bands involved in the process. - Claes Olson / COMEDIA and Zeke Varg
