New Zealand singer-songwriter, Phil Madsen, is the second youngest of a musical family of eight children. No stranger to the stage, Phil has been performing since the age of four.
Recognised for his impressive vocal range, Phil has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the business including Air Supply, Cher, Hank Marvin, Hootie & the Blowfish, The Pointer Sisters, Spandau Ballet and Boyzlife.
Phil has two top 20 hits under his belt and won ‘Top Male Vocalist’ at the New Zealand Variety Artist Awards in 2013 and has self-produced two albums – ‘Mr Yellow Tree’ and 'This World'. His song ‘Dancing on the Moon' was awarded a top-five nomination in the APRA Silver Scroll Awards and ‘This World' climbed to number one in the Singer-Songwriter Charts on i-Tunes.
In 2017 Phil joined Eddie Rayner’s show ‘ENZO’ in Australia and New Zealand, performing the songs of Split Enz - the original band before it reformed into ‘Crowded House’ - alongside an 18-piece orchestra receiving excellent reviews.
“Phil’s voice and range was excellent and, dare I say it, sounded better at times than the original artist.” – The 13th Floor - David Boyle
“Madsen's voice is incredible, not only for range but also intensity – Stuff and Nonsense, I Hope I Never and Edible Flowers were heart-rending.” – Stuff - Patrick Shepherd
