Born in 1978 in Toledo, Ohio, Phil Stark grew up in the suburban sprawl of Maumee and Sylvania, cutting his teeth at Toledo’s legendary underground venue Frankie’s during the heyday of its punk and indie explosion. By the early ’90s, he was playing in local punk bands, soaking up the raw, no-rules ethos of Midwest DIY culture.
After studying film at the University of Toledo, Stark moved to Madrid, Spain, where he's spent almost two decades deep in the city’s underground punk scene—writing, recording, and playing loud.
Expect a steady flow of singles—dirty, heartfelt, and unfiltered. The sound is rooted in protopunk, garage, punk, country, and blues. Think Jonathan Richman’s wide-eyed sincerity, Dead Moon’s basement fury, New York Dolls’ glitter-trash swagger, and the dark melodies of The Cure. A collision of '70s glam/punk and '90s distortion-heavy grit.
