The search for something you’ve lost—and the fear it may not exist the way it once did—is the visceral experience that Phillip Andrew strives to create through his sound: energetic, intense, and heart-wrenchingly contemplative.
Since writing and producing original music in 2012, he has improved his craft with each new set of imaginative lyrics and complex guitar riffs, further innovating his sound comprised of math rock, emo, and hardcore music styles. In 2016, Phillip Andrew realized his aspirations needed to grow beyond recording demos as a hobby. Within a year, he co-founded his first collaborative project with his four-piece band, Old Joy, which published two albums and actively performed in New Brunswick, New Jersey’s DIY music scene between 2017 and 2020.
Phillip Andrew's first release under his solo project was his self-produced Koi Fish in Resonance EP (2024), a reworked collection of songs written between 2016 and 2018 that recounts old relationships during his formative college years. The project has received positive acclaim from his dedicated social media following, which he has grown primarily through posting TikTok videos about stompboxes and guitar riffs.
