Phillipa Cookman grew up in a family of talented musicians and writers, and decided at a young age that her future would also be one of performing and entertainment.
She studied performance at college, which led to undertaking a degree in Commercial Music, and then receiving an invitation to participate in the post graduate programme at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music.
For more than 15 years Phillipa has toured the UK, Europe, Israel, the USA and Asia as both a lead singer and backing vocalist.
When her year long theatre tour was cancelled because of COVID, she spent time during lockdown exploring some family treasures.
Phillipa and her siblings had been left a huge body of creative work when their father Brian Cookman, a popular Delta Blues and Jug Band musician, passed away 2005.
As Phillipa spent time listening to and creating new arrangements for some of her favourites of Brian's songs, she became determined to create an album to honour her father's memory and talent.
The album, entitled "Cookman", brings Brian's writing to a new audience through a new genre - Country-Rock.
The first single "Greasy Mabel" shot straight to the top of the UK Country Chart, and two more singles are planned ahead of the album release this November.
