Phiwo

Durban born, Johannesburg based singer-songwriter Phiwo has been slowly learning to carve her own path in the bubbling South African R&B space. She started her career wanting to study acting right after high school, but ended her first year at AFDA as a Music Performance student. Since graduating in 2021, she has built a catalogue through countless collaborations alongside various artists such as Sipho The Gift and Mark Akol, Miles, Tyson Sybateli and many more. Her debut EP, Letters, peaked at No. 11 on Apple’s R&B/Soul charts in 2021 and added more articles and write ups to her belt from the likes of Hype Magazine and SlikourOnLife. She ended the year 2023 as the cover artist for Spotify’s BlueZA playlist for December. With performance as her major, it is no surprise she has taken the stage of many underground events in Johannesburg and Pretoria like The Weekly Touch Up by ByLwansta, NarowBi and Escaping The City. This year has seen her collaborate with artists like 2AM, Novl., Taykatrip and many others as she continues to grow this list. She started the year a contestant in SlikourOnLife and MTN’s music reality show “MTN Pulse Virals” which aired on Channel O and Mzansi Magic. With hip hop, neo-soul and RnB as her greatest influences, she hopes to pay homage to the music that made her who she is, and look deeper into “Phiwo”
