Phonikz

Phonikz - a Limpopo-born composer, producer and instrumentalist couldn't escape the call to music even if he'd tried. He was exposed to music in the early stages of his life as his older brother was a drummer. Having grown up in church,
he was surrounded by musicians and it is no secret that his music origins trace back to Gospel music. At the tender age of 10, he picked up his first instrument - recorder; he later learned bass, drums, piano, violin and guitar.

At the infancy stages of his teenage years, Phonikz got into beat-making. He drew inspiration from diverse sources. As with other music producers, he experimented in different styles of music although the one he started with was a short-lived experiment. He used to make and listen to dance/house music in his teen years as that was one of the most popular styles of music in his township. He went from producing House music to his current sound which shows effortless versatility, fluidity, and that breaking barriers seems to come naturally to him. His music is an amalgamation of Neo-soul, Jazz, Gospel and Hip-Hop-inspired beats.
