Phyl the Kangogo

Phyl The Kangogo is an afro-urban singer/songwriter, actor, and performer based in Nairobi. He
is trained in classical music and African folk and pop music and a graduate in Bachelor of music
at Kenyatta University.
Phyl The Kangogo has participated in various music workshops that have opened up his mind to
different scopes of music. Some of these workshops include; The East Africa Ongea Music
Summit with East African Musicians and Kenyatta University Folk Music Workshop. He has
performed in various national and international events like The East African Ongea Music summit
that was held in Sarit Centre in Nairobi, Annual Swiss-Re (Aiducation) events, The Nairobi
Festival (NaiFest) among others.
Phyl The Kangogo has had the privilege to perform alongside other great artists like H-art the
band, Bensoul, Antoneosoul, ReekadoBanks, Khaligraph Johnes, Otile Brown among other great
East African pop artists. He is a music and development specialist trained in classical music and
holds a heavy musical background. Over time, Phyl has developed an interest in various fields in
art like acting and was featured in a Kenyan web series called “Tom Dick & Harrie” that won an
award at the Atlanta Film Festival and ranked among the best web series in Kenya. He also plays
both classical guitar and contemporary acoustic guitar.
Phyl The Kangogo believes in true partnerships for a greater goal and is always open for
collaborations.
