A contemplative and poetic approach to the folk genre with braiding vocal harmonies — Physical Kids is Brooklyn musical duo Alaina Ferris (performances with Amanda Palmer, Jason Webley, César Alvarez, Sxip Shirey) and Matt Schlatter (Mother Juniper, Loren Berí, Io & Titan). After meeting once-a-week for over ten years to just practice together, Matt & Alaina released their debut EP, In a Little House, in April 2022. "Our songs are extensions of our conversations: what we’re reading, thinking, how we’re feeling. The music is a natural result of what feels like a simple (but, for us, profound) friendship and practice — an artistry in the quotidian, or magic in the everyday.”
Intimate, sincere, and imperfect, Physical Kids' debut EP 'In a Little House' was recorded in a single take in the same room. The album is about failed relationships that still manage to hold on to the love that initially formed them. It was recorded and mixed at Restoration Sound by Lorenzo Wolff and mastered by Charles Van Kirk. Guest artists include vocalist Lacy Rose, cellist Brent Arnold, guitarist Colin Fullerton, and a choral appearance of Mare Berger, Melody Berger, and J.D. Mollison.
