On March 19th 2020, just as the UK was contemplating going into lockdown, singer/songwriter Craig Westwood wrote a song called: “Thinking On Your Own”.
It was a direct response to the selfishness and futility of the panic buying in the shops, that was being heard on the news, and it was in hope of trying to inspire some positivity out of a situation that seemed to be getting more and more desperate. “Thinking On Your Own” was an encouragement to get people to look outside of their own predicament, and to see who else they could help.
He posted this on all his social media channels, unsure of what response he'd get from it - but if it prompted just a couple of people to think again, stop buying up all of the pasta, toilet roll and tinned food, so that the more vulnerable might still be able to buy their groceries - it would have done something good for somebody else.
The song reached a musician and producer called Tim Ellifritz in Johnsburg, New York, who then contacted Craig and said how much he loved it, and could he produce it, and invite a few more musicians to join in. Of course, Craig said a resounding “YES!”
Three months later, Tim, Craig, and three other musicians: Dave Merkel (USA), Peter Süoss (NL), Patrick Peeters (BE) formed the ‘virtual’ band, P.ii (pronounced “Pie”), and recorded all individual parts in their own respective home studios. "Thinking On Your Own" is their first release.
