Influenced by the brash swagger of Britpop and the meticulously crafted songwriting of the Beatles, Plain Devilments were formed in East Hull in 2019.
Frontman Jimmy Lutkin's distinctly rugged voice finds its perfect accompaniment in the darting riffs and reckless ingenuity of James Todd on lead guitar. Elevating the sound of the founding members are bassist Leah Nesbit with her raw and brooding supporting vocals, and the frenzied theatrics of Aidan Smith on drums.
Rhythmic funk inflections and scratchy punk declamations anchored in infectious guitar pop singalongs, this is a band exploring the gamut of indie inventiveness. A band in chrysalis poised to erupt. This is Plain Devilments.
