Plastic Skulls is a music project 20 years in the making – no joke.
I’ve always loved music and writing songs but was unfortunately never blessed with a credible singing voice nor the requisite dedication & technical ability to master an instrument. As a result, I spent most of my youth recording objectively awful song demos and became frustrated that my vision and end product were worlds apart.
In 2020 I finally decided to apply myself.
With a bit of digging, I was able to find a wealth of ridiculously talented musicians from around the world to contribute. I collaborated with players from Argentina, Sri Lanka, India, USA, Venezuela, Italy and more. I got in touch with old friends to do vocal parts and some new ones too. Armed with YouTube tutorials galore, I dedicated my time to wrestling with a 15-year-old computer and Cubase 5 to try and do some justice to the new parts in my possession. The arrival of my first child provided plenty of late nights to ponder the mixes whilst she slept in my arms.
By the end of 2023 those sketchy demos had finally become an actual record. Self indulgent? Absolutely. Rewarding? Very.
Have listen. You might not hate it.
