Playyard is a dutch Alternative Rock band with its own distinct sound. Inspired by rockbands from the '90s and the start of the new millennium, the band is known for its energetic shows, tight performance and interaction with the audience.
Playyard was founded in 2007 by vocalist Erol Yenicakaya and drummer Erik Polet. Playyard delivers its debutalbum in 2008 labeled ‘Someday I’ll Show’ and is being follow up by various singles like ‘On That Day’ and ‘It’s All Gone’.
At the end of 2015, with the addition of Bob Korthout as their new drummer, Bob Vegt as their new bassist and Ezra Soerioroseno as their new guitarist, Playyard picks up where it left off back in 2013.
Inspired by the seemingly decaying social norms in society the band writes and releases a single called ’The Fallen’ in 2018. A more serious type of song compared to the band’s previous work and a clear example of the type of work the band’s new formation would set out to make.
Early 2019 a new EP called ‘Fall & Rise’ released with the songs ‘Forsaken’, ‘Insomnia’, ‘Now or Never’ and ‘Rebel’. Tracks that deal with the darker side of life, but also the power to overcome your challenges, no matter how hard life can get. Songs not in the least inspired by the suicide of two close friends that had a big impact on the band’s writing process.
