PLUTO BLACK is the sound of stardust in motion – part Griot, part prophet, and all groove. Formerly known as VAGABOND MAURICE, the Minneapolis-born, Chicago-sculpted lyricist returns with a new name and a sharper orbit. What began as poetic bars over dusty loops has blossomed into something wider, warmer and more sonically dynamic. With a deeper voice, keener pen, and keys under his fingers, Pluto Black is an artist arriving with purpose – composing, building worlds, and bending genres. The music still honors the blues, Black liberation, and cosmic lineage, but now sways with gospel chords, neo-soul textures, chopped-up jazz, and hip-hop that breathes.

A founding voice in the Slumpgang777 collective and co-architect of the duo As Told by Heroes (alongside Malik Dawson), his past accomplishments under his earlier stage name laid the blueprint; what comes next is celestial. Now, he turns inward, pairing lyricism with melody, piano, and self-production (under the name Dragonfly Jones) that marks the arrival of an artist in full bloom.
