Pol

Pol is a band made up of Dutch brothers Ruben and Matthijs Pol. They’re drawn to the sound and feeling of the new wave / New Romantics movement, channeling the intensity and cold romanticism of a past era into something distinctly their own: a blend of analog sound and fashion sensibility, translated into forms that extend beyond just music.

In 2023, they released their self-titled debut EP, featuring songs like ‘Boys Are’ and ‘L’Amour Fait Mal’, which introduced their analog-driven edge. This was followed by singles like ‘Masks’ and ‘The Chameleon’, which embraced a more theatrical, New Romantic tone.

Pol has since built an independent universe from the ground up - designing all visuals, videos, merch, and a fanzine themselves. Their first zine, a reflection on their West European tour, is sold at a cult bookshop in Paris. Their multidisciplinary approach has also led to sound design collaborations with Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu.

In early 2024, they played their first sold-out headline show at Bitterzoet in Amsterdam, joined on stage by Visage’s Logan Sky. The band has been featured in outlets such as NRC, Trouw, de Volkskrant, and 10 Magazine, and was named one of the standout acts at Eurosonic Noorderslag. They've performed at SXSW, ITGWO, Valkhof Festival, and played shows across JP, FR, ES, NL, BE, DE, SE, and the US.

Ruben and Matthijs bring a unique fusion of sound, image, and performance that reimagines new wave not as nostalgia but as a living language for now.
