Bob Brown, Krzyz Fijalkowski (ex-Bardots), Pete Fijalkowski (ex-Adorable), Chris Parsons, and Matthew Sigley came together as Polak, a guitar-based pop band who formed in the late '90s. They got to work by issuing a trio of singles in rapid succession on Generic in limited editions throughout 1998 and 1999. Those three singles, with a re-recording of their debut A-side ("2 Minutes 45," which actually lasted a few seconds longer), were packaged together for 1999's 3X3. The band hooked up with the independent One Little Indian for 2000's ironically titled Swansongs.
