The Pollitt Bureau was founded in Cambridge, England by bassist Davey Pollitt. For the last thirty years, Davey has played with numerous and diverse artists including Banderas, Imogen Heap, Jon Hopkins and The Associates.
At the turn of the millennium, Davey was working on a dance music project with the innovative Trance, Hard house, Break beat DJ Grant Plant. Grant, who has found success in Britain and the United States, had been collaborating with Ken Hankins, a respected Los Angeles-based writer/producer, known to his fans as ‘Joy’.
Also at this time, Davey had been writing songs with Gary B and Julie Harrington (Cafe del Mar), and immediately upon hearing Davey’s material, Grant had the notion to make a ‘chill out album’, and in no time the studio was booked and Grant had arranged for Ken Hankins to fly to the UK to produce the recording.
While the album does have a chilled out vibe, it embraces other genres such as funk, reggae, and EDM, all set to Davey’s sublime and lyrical basslines, which blend the influences of Jaco Pastorius, Geddy Lee and Mark King.
Special thanks to the musicians - Julie Harrington, Chyna Whyne, Sean Andrews, Art Reynolds, Peter Lee, Danny Miller, Imogen heap, Stuart Davies, Gary B, Jon Hopkins, Dan Sanders, Gregg Allen, Ben Ashby, Cody Williams, Leo Abrahams, Mykey Schueller, Graham Buxton, Greg Kidman, Myles Sanko, Andy Perriss, Chris Wong, Loftie Long, Chris Bull.
